Welcome to the Südheide nature park
Enjoy and actively experience nature in the Südheide nature park
It’s nice of you to visit us!
In the Lüneburg Heath, just a few kilometres north of Celle, the Südheide nature park extends between the tranquil villages of Eschede, Hermannsburg, Müden/Örtze, Faßberg and Unterlüß.
The 480 km² large Südheide nature park was founded in 1964. The body responsible for the park is the Administrative District of Celle. Almost the whole of the park is a landscape protection area. Ten nature reserves and the extensive parts of the park which belong to the European Natura 2000 protected area network safeguard the most important areas for nature conservation. The protected areas alone cover 22 % of the nature park.
Experience the gently rolling landscape of the Südheide nature park with expansive forests crossed by hundreds of kilometres of well-signposted trails for hikers, cyclists and riders.
Varied landscapes, large forests and lonely moors, atmospheric heathland and our four-legged landscape conservationists await you.
Be inspired by the heathland!
